What are weight management services?

Weight management services reduce the amount of fat on your body so you can enjoy more energy and better overall health.

Central Park West Primary Care and Cardiology Physicians starts with a comprehensive evaluation along with a physical exam so they can gain a complete understanding of your health. They also review your current nutrition and habits.

The team might use diagnostic tests, like blood testing and hormone testing, to develop your individualized weight management plan. They can then offer personalized suggestions like:

  • Dietary changes and meal planning
  • Regular exercise
  • Nutritional supplements
  • Appetite suppressant medications

If you have any medical conditions related to your weight, they can provide treatment for those simultaneously. Still, weight management itself improves the prognosis for many conditions and can lower your risk for others.

What are the cardiovascular benefits of weight management?

Weight management can improve your overall cardiovascular health. With less fat on your body, your heart doesn’t have to work so hard to pump oxygenated blood to all of your organs and tissues.

Many cardiovascular health conditions can improve with weight loss, and weight management can lower your risk of getting them in the first place. These conditions include:

  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • High triglycerides
  • Heart disease
  • Heart attacks
  • Heart failure
  • Hyperglycemia
  • High blood sugar

Weight management can also help control or prevent Type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, osteoarthritis, and a variety of other conditions and concerns.

How long does it take to reach my ideal weight?

While weight management can help you reach your goal weight, it’s important to note that weight management is a lifelong commitment that doesn’t just end when you get down to a particular number on the scale.

To maintain your weight while also keeping you healthy, Central Park West Primary Care and Cardiology Physicians helps you make sustainable changes to how you eat and your daily habits.

The time it takes to reach your ideal weight varies based on your starting point, but you should go at a steady pace and avoid rushing to drop the pounds.
